Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2023
1. Introduction
At My Daily Briefing, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Android application. We designed this app to be a tool for you, not a tool for data collection.
2. Information We Collect
To provide you with a personalized morning summary, the App accesses the following types of information with your explicit permission:
- Google Calendar Data: We access your upcoming events to display them in your daily briefing.
- Google Tasks Data: We access your task lists to show you what needs to be done today.
- Location Data: We use your device's approximate location to provide accurate local weather forecasts.
- Device Information: Standard technical data like OS version and device model to ensure the App runs correctly.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to generate and display your personalized daily briefing. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Most data processing (like organizing your calendar and tasks for the display) happens locally on your device or via direct, secure API calls to Google and weather providers.
Google User Data: We do not share, transfer, or disclose any Google user data (including your Google Calendar events and Google Tasks) with anyone. Your Google data remains private and is used solely within the App to provide you with your daily briefing.
4. Third-Party Services
The App interacts with the following third-party services:
- Google APIs: Used to sync your calendar and tasks. This interaction is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Weather Providers: We send your approximate coordinates to weather services to fetch the current forecast.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We do not store your calendar events or tasks on our own servers. This data is pulled fresh each time you open the briefing or when a notification is generated. If you uninstall the App or revoke permissions in your Google Account settings, the App will no longer have access to this data.
6. Security
We use industry-standard encryption protocols to protect your data while it is in transit between your device and third-party APIs. We recommend keeping your Android OS updated to benefit from the latest security patches.
7. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and, where appropriate, notifying you through the App.
